Yes, modern science requires data collection and processing in order to understand the world in which we now live.
And daily, conscientious... companies - business organizations - use data collected to create technological innovations and breakthroughs, for renewable energy efforts, for curing illnesses (eliminating viruses, diseases and other harmful bacteria) and more.
So don't let the doom and gloom-type news reports that you see or read about our data-greedy governments and about data-hungry corporations dishearten you with their toxic negativity.
Yes, data can be and should be used as a tool, like anything that can be used for doing either good and bad thing - was a screwdriver created to be used as a weapon to kill a person with?

Yes, there will be around 11.5 million more jobs available in 2026 in data collection and analytics positions with companies - with corporations / business organizations - than there were just 3 years ago.
Which means a person that has the skill to obtain and process (analyze) data, can help any company/any corporation - any business organization - tremendously because you provide the key to its growth and success.
Yes, I believe I can safely say, as companies/as corporations/as business organizations strive for for both profitability and growth, especially now in our modern online-based ecommerce and business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) and subscriptions-oriented frameworks or ways of conducting business.
More important than that, also, I think it's safe to say that as companies/corporations - business organizations - strive for growth because they are all now forced to conduct their business activities using the Internet, a person who smartly decides to learn how to and chooses to have a career in data engineering (data processing) is or will be a very safe bet for her or his future.
That's because data is the first step in attaining knowledge, remember?

Yes, I'm an old marketing subject matter expert (SME) - an old hunting dog trained in the activity or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising - and for me to decide to or even contemplate having a career or study path today in data science/data engineering would definitely be hard for me to do or be next to impossible. That's because...
... you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
But one old hunting dog - old professional marketing expert - skill I learned and I will never forget is: To be a truly successful marketer, you need to be / you must be as transparent as possible, as well as provide clarity.
That's because, if your message is anywhere in the world of insider esoterica where your audience might be either not as knowledgeable as you are or possibly even confused about the subject you're talking about, your message is lost/ misunderstood/ ineffective.
And maybe worse - your audience - the people who were just not able to understand you might even feel left out and they will miss out.
You're overthinking things; you should listen to me.
Because I'm a hunting dog that's not too old, I am contemplating and thinking about either getting or adopting 4 teenage foster children (gender identity unimportant) and trying to persuasively influence them - like an Alaskan dog-sled driver - to have a passion for mathematics, science, or technology and decide to have a career or study path that will lead them to becoming either:
1. a data scientist/data engineer, or
2. a cybersecurity engineer, or
3. an artificial intelligence (AI) specialist, or
4. a marketing subject matter expert (SME)
... just like the man with the whip in his hand (oops, I meant to say just like me), because data doesn't lie!
You misunderstood what I said.
You might want to contemplate and think about becoming a dog-sled driver (oops again, I meant to say think about becoming a life-improving and loving foster parent), too!
